Hardwood vs Wood-like Tiles

February 16, 2023

These days some tiles look just like hardwood. So what are the benefits of these wood-like tiles? Well, for one thing, they can go over cement flooring. Hardwood needs a sub-flooring, and it does not go over cement.

It’s also great in areas with a lot of moisture, like the bathroom. Or in the kitchen, where there is a lot of traffic and wear and tear. The tiles look so real nowadays that it’s hard to tell the difference.

They come in many different widths and colors. Check it out yourself, and you’ll be surprised.

Painting my Door BLACK!

July 28, 2022
As we all know, black and white color themes are trending right now. We see black windows as the hot new trend. But how about black interior doors? I have seen them, and I love them. So I decided I was going to paint all my interior doors black. Now that is a commitment because changing them back into white would be a bit of a nightmare. But like I always tell my clients, trust the process.

It started with my front door. It was black, and I thought, why not paint them all black?

Adding Storage to the Bathroom

March 24, 2022
Recently I have been working on my main bathroom. I just finished painting my cabinet a beautiful blue. When I moved into my current home, there was a washer and dryer in the bathroom. I hated that but it was so convenient I decided to keep it there.

Unfortunately, the washer broke and I decide to remove it from the bathroom and install it in the basement where it should have been from the beginning.

The issue is now I have holes in the walls!! Since remodeling the entire bathroom is not within the budget, I had to come up with an idea.

I decided to add a storage cabinet. When I went shopping online, I couldn’t find one. Everything was out of stock due to Covid!

So I figured why not build one? How hard can it be?? Famous last words right? Actually, it really wasn’t that hard to build. And the result was just what I needed and wanted.

This is what it looked like with the washer and dryer. Not very attractive, I know.

It was such a mess getting it out. It didn’t fit the doorway, so we had to take it apart.
First thing was to create a plan. Figure out the measurements.

Buy all the materials. Home Depot is great because they will cut the pieces for you.

The box was built, now to add the feet.

Ikea had the feet that I want. They were white metal. I spackle the raw edges and caulked in the seams

I ordered storage containers from Target. Just waiting for them to come in.
Finally, they arrived and I was able to finish the project. So much better than before.

Painting my Bathroom Cabinet

March 10, 2022
Recently I remodel the spare bathroom. I was so pleased with the result but the main bathroom left much to be desired! Let’s just say, I wasn’t happy with it, but redoing it was not in the budget.

I decided what was in the budget was painting the cabinet. That I can do. I decided to paint it a nice dark blue.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures before I started the project. Aye Vay! This is the only picture I have. It was taken when I first purchased the property. But at least it gives you an idea.

I had to take the doors off to paint them correctly. Plus two coats since the color was dark.

So pleased with the results. Just completely changed the look of the bathroom.

Updating the Spare Bathroom

February 24, 2022
When I moved into my current home a few years ago, I knew I would be redoing the spare bathroom. The tiles in the shower were starting to buckle so I knew it was time.

Here are some before pictures. Not the prettiest bathroom!

These are the tiles I chose. The accent tiles were from Home Depot. The wall and floor tiles were from ProSource.

The excavation was the worst part. It usually is!! All that mess!

I can see the beginning of the design take place. So exciting to see!!

All done and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I didn’t spend a lot because this is not my main bathroom but I still wanted it to look nice. I was pleased with the results.

I even added a shelf for plants.

Bathroom Tiles in Beautiful Bold Colors

October 28, 2021

There’s been a trend from all-white designs to beautiful bold colors. I”m not saying white doesn’t have its place in the design world, I’m just saying I’ve seen bold colors making a comeback.

There are so many options and colors to choose from. You can go as bold as you like if you’re daring, or just add splashes of it. They have matt finishes to a high gloss. I do love them but truth be told, not sure I would go so bold.

How about you? Would you go bold?!!!

Alternative Bathroom Wainscoting

July 22, 2021

Many of you are very familiar with wainscoting. Most often wood is used. But how about using tiles instead? This opens up many options with style and color. It gives the bathroom a  fresh and creative look.

Talk about the wow factor. Here are just some ideas!!
