Master bedroom a huge selling point

Master Bedroom, A Huge Selling Point

A master bedroom is a huge selling point. Many buyers want a 5-star quality master bedroom when purchasing a home. That is why it’s so important to update your bedroom, along with your kitchen and bathrooms. It isn’t challenging to achieve a high-end look. Sometimes they are a simple solution that has excellent outcomes. Here are some easy steps to making the bedroom of your dreams.

Imperfection – Don’t try to fight it, instead embrace it and work around it. In this bedroom, the window did not allow curtains to be hung on one side. Instead, use a shorter curtain and frame one side of the window. It works well.

Matchy-Matchy – This is one place you can and should match. Matching nightstand and lamps will give the room a symmetrical look. This will enhance that soothing feeling that we all want.

Fabric – Use fabric that can withstand stains. When selling your home, try not to use bold colors, jarring patterns, or lacy fabric. If you’re using a pattern, make sure you repeat it and keep it simple.
Color – When choosing the bed sheets for your comforter, my rule of thumb is to match the comforter. Too many colors are jarring to your senses. Make sure the color of your wall co-ordinates with your bedding. This way, you will have a cohesive look.

Remember this is your bedroom, use items that will appeal to your senses. Limit the amount of furniture, especially if you’re selling your home, and don’t put your office in your bedroom. Too many times, I’ve seen a master bedroom with an identity crisis. They are often used as either an office or storage area. This is a place to retrieve from your hectic life!! Treat it like a sanctuary.

Top Color trend 2020

Every year designers, architects, and big manufacturing plant come together to discuss colors trends for the coming year. Next year’s color trends will be calm and neutrals for the most part.

Here are some of the trends:

1. French Vanilla. Soft yellow, adds warmth to any space.

2. Green. Mint green, sage green. Green is associated with nature.

3. Hazelnut. This color has a feeling of relaxation. It’s ideal for background color.

4. Grey Green. As you can see, green seems to be the star for 2020.

5. Grey. It seems we are not entirely done with grey yet.
6. Red and Purple. These two-color can incite strong feelings.

As you can see, it’s much different than last year. See anything you like?? Not sure. Then consider hiring an expert. This you know you’re not making a mistake.

Mixing Patterns

September 5, 2018
Mixing Patterns!!
When mixing patterns, odd numbers work best. When selecting colors, I generally like to choose colors from big items, such as a sofa, area rug or chair.
Here is some guideline that will help you when choosing patterns:

  • Vary the scale of the patterns. Use large and small-scale patterns.
  • Choose two important colors and one neutral.
  • Use either cool tones or warm, DO NOT  mix the tones.
  • Use the patterns in all three working zones, function zone (furniture area), power zone (mid-area) and ceiling zone.

  • Try to keep 3 patterns. Using too many patterns doesn’t give the eyes a place to rest and will feel chaotic…

The most important rule when mixing patterns is COLOR. Make sure the colors are in the same tone. You also want to show some restraint and NOT go overboard!! A healthy mix is excellent. So go out there and have fun!!
